Famous Wrecks

– HMS Maori: This World War II destroyer, sunk in Valletta harbour, is a popular dive site teeming with marine life.

– MV Rozi: A former tugboat sunk off the coast of Cirkewwa to create an artificial reef, now home to a plethora of marine creatures.

– P29 Patrol Boat: Another artificial reef near Cirkewwa, offering an accessible and intriguing wreck dive.

– Um El Faroud: One of the most famous wrecks in Malta, scuttled in 1998 after a tragic explosion. It lies at depths of 15-36 meters near Wied iz-Zurrieq. The wreck offers excellent penetration opportunities for advanced divers and is teeming with marine life like barracudas, squid, and sponges. Its historical significance and rich biodiversity make it a must-visit dive site.

Diving Conditions

– Water Temperature: Malta enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with water temperatures ranging from 15°C (59°F) in winter to 26°C (79°F) in summer.

– Diving Season: While diving is possible year-round, the best conditions are typically from May to October.
